Beacon Youth and Family Center Board President Michael Miller today announced the appointment of Michael Guthrie as the organization’s new Executive Director. Guthrie’s appointment will fill the vacancy created by the illness and untimely death of long-time Executive Director Anne Robinson.

Mr. Guthrie has served as Beacon Center’s Administrative Director overseeing financial and facilities management since January 2006. Prior to joining Beacon Center, Mr. Guthrie had a 27-year career in state government in management positions involving all aspects of business operations.

“Anne Robinson left an indelible mark on Beacon Center; her passion for improving the lives of children is a legacy that continues to inspire and motivate her Beacon Center colleagues. The trust and confidence she placed in Mike Guthrie as Administrative Director is further endorsement of his suitability for the Executive Director position. In addition to his exceptional qualifications, Mike will provide a sense of continuity and stability. Mike’s familiarity and involvement in several new initiatives that auger an exciting future for Beacon Center is also a big plus,” stated Michael Miller.

Beacon Youth and Family Center’s mission is to support at-risk youth to become healthy members of the community through family-centered, customized treatment and educational services. Since 1969 Beacon Center has served over 15,000 youth between the ages of 12 to 18--and their families--struggling with substance abuse, challenging social or emotional behavior and mental health issues to build happier, healthier lives.
